The article said that the voids in the rock structure can actually leak water through and they can trap water and dirt thus making the tiles look dingy. So do you think tiles would hold up better than travertine? The first email I sent a few minutes ago asked you to give me some pros and cons of travertine vs. tiles. Would it take more cleaning for travertine? Any information you can give me would be appreciated. Thank you for your time. We are in the beginning stages of building a pool - need permitting first. But I am trying to pick out tile colors for the pool. Our contractor suggested travertine. My friend said that it was very porous and may not work very well with the water (but what does she know). Anyway, now it has put doubt in my mind. Does travertine work just as well in lieu of tile.
